I’ve been in Scouts since I was 6 years old and have worked my way up through the ranks of Cub Scouts all the way to Eagle. One of my favorite things about Scouting is all the friends that I’ve made along the way, many of which I’m still friends with. The adults in our Troop have also influenced me a lot; they have helped shape me into who I am and helped prepare me for the future. I’ve learned a lot about responsibility and leadership as well as how to take charge and learned how to keep my cool In potentially overwhelming situations. I have a lot of inspiration from previous Eagle Scouts from our Troop and have used what they taught me to get to where I am. All the skills I’ve learned at Scouts I’m going to use in the future. I hope that the next generations will take the opportunity to join Scouts and learn about things such as leadership. I couldn’t be more thankful for our Troop and how they’ve impacted my life.

My time in scouting has had a profound effect on my life. Bearing the honor of being an Eagle Scout has opened doors and opportunities in my personal and professional life. The leadership training I received was essential in understanding how I can make a difference in society and for those around me. There is no organization like Scouting that can create bonds amongst youth that can last a lifetime. I owe Scouting for who I am and for introducing me to fellow Scouts that have become cherished friendships. The values taught in Scouting are meant to inspire and instill good merit in our future and present world leaders. I am excited to see the continued growth of Scouting and Troop 161.

I'm an Eagle Scout from Troop 161 in Sturbridge. Having come into contact with several different troops over the years, there is something truly special about our Sturbridge Troop. Scouting, but particularly my experience in Troop 161, has taught me so much about life, citizenship, and community involvement and support. The leadership of 161 throughout the years has shown dedication to raising strong men through the Scouting program, offering experiences that far surpass the value of even college education, let alone other youth programs.
Troop 161 has and will continue to be my home troop, and I look forward to decades to come as we continue to equip young men and boys to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
